Dr. Sumona De Graaf is a co-chairman of Coqual’s board of directors and the founder of Idealis, an advisory firm committed to bringing more human-centered practices to the workplace. Most recently, she was Chief Human Resources Officer at Republic Services shaping, overseeing and executing the talent strategy of the company to achieve business objectives. Prior to joining Republic, Sumona was a principal consultant at ghSMART where she advised Boards and coached, assessed and developed C-Suite leaders in the public and private sector. Before ghSMART, Sumona was the global head of Career Development at Bloomberg LP, where she helped the company attract, develop and retain top talent. During her time at Bloomberg, the company nearly doubled in size and experienced multiple leadership transitions, while advancing in their digital capabilities in the HR function. Early in her career, Sumona worked at American Express on the Leadership and Diversity team and at Goldman Sachs on the Leadership, Learning and Diversity team, where she focused on diversity and inclusion, training and leadership development, and launched large scale accountability initiatives to drive the right leadership behaviors.
