Emilia Yu
Director, Research
Emilia is research director at Coqual, where she leads data analysis and survey design, conducts qualitative research, and collaborates with the broader team on story direction. As a detail-oriented thinker with deep experience in both quantitative and qualitative analysis, she designs compelling data-driven narratives for Coqual’s research deliverables. Her focus on building inclusive company cultures using quantitative insights mirrors Coqual’s dedication to equity and social justice. On the advisory side, Emilia uses her research expertise to provide thoughtful analysis for company-specific findings. In addition, she is the organization’s go-to data person, translating research findings and methodological details for colleagues and other stakeholders. As a Coqual subject matter expert, she delivers presentations and webinars on a range of Coqual research.
Emilia has experience with econometric modeling and research, as well as policy research on a variety of issues from an internship with the Office of the Manhattan Borough President. She is also well-versed in writing, editing, and tutoring from a writing consultant position at the New York University Writing Center. She holds a degree in economics from New York University.
Passionate about music, writing, and social justice, Emilia believes in stories wherever they’re found, from lyrics to the screen to video games to the block around her apartment, and lately, she has had a musical penchant for all things funk.
