Data Executive
Currently at Visa, Karen is the leader of Data & AI Platforms, Engineering, Architecture and Products. Accountable for the Global Data Transformation program enabling the Visa 2030 strategy by uplifting strategic decision-making through data-driven practices. New addition, she is delivering new Data Products for Visa’s Financial Service clients creating incremental revenue stream of over $175M.
Karen was the Chief Data Officer for Citi – Global Consumer Bank and Wealth Management. Karen Bernhard spent 7 years at Citi transforming the bank into a modern architecture. She was responsible for Data Infrastructure, Engineering, Data Governance, Stewardship, Business Intelligence, Architecture, Cloud, AI, Regulatory Compliance, Marketing and Campaign Operations.
At Liberty Mutual, Karen was the Head of Data Strategy for Customer Markets. Karen drove operational efficiency of Customer Markets business operations by providing strategic guidance on data and technology processes. She delivered key cross-functional use cases, such as Telematics and Customer 360, creating strategic and transformational value for Liberty’s customers, agents, and employees.
Karen spent 18 years at Capital One leading large data transformation programs and leading the data analysis and stewardship organizations. Her eighteen years in Marketing & Analysis, Operations, Program Delivery, and IT gives her a broad base of experience with which to diagnose and solve problems. As a Senior Director of Decision Science Solutions, Karen’s responsibilities include matching business solutions and platforms, driving their execution through delivery, and enhancing a focus on innovation. Karen has developed a program with Virginia Commonwealth University to provide advanced development to Capital One associates to become industry leading Analytic Professionals.
Graduates from the program will gain industry leading knowledge in analytics, data exploration/mining, solving business problems with data, effectively communicating complex analytic problems/results, the ability to work with large data and the ability to lead analytic solutions. She obtained her BS from North Park College in Exercise Science and Biology. In addition, she has a master’s degree in Recreation and Gerontology from Virginia Commonwealth University.
