Marisol del Valle

Senior Associate, Advisory Services

Marisol is a senior associate on the advisory services team at Coqual. She prefers her nickname, “Wabi-Sabi,” referring to the ancient Japanese philosophy that loosely translates to “finding beauty in things imperfect, impermanent and incomplete.” At Coqual, she helps develop programs and new ways to help clients become more inclusive and empathic leaders.

Wabi’s passion for inclusive leadership, advocacy and community building began in a Nevada desert in 2012 at her first Burning Man Project event where she led a small team using a non-traditional approach to examining group dynamics and observing how teams work.  Her unique approach utilized her background in psychology, extensive immersion in NYC politics and city agencies, and years of experience working with children with special needs in the foster care system. Growing up on the Upper East Side as the daughter of immigrants, she developed a keen sense of identifying group needs, exposing imbalances, advocating on behalf of others, and coaching people to help them become best versions of themselves.

Her professional career began as an executive assistant to CEOs, where she applied her knowledge of human behavior, organizational and interpersonal skills, and ability to prioritize tasks while navigating internal and external politics.

Wabi earned a BA in psychology from Hunter College and is currently a pro bono consultant for global community and culture for the Burning Man Project.  Additionally, when she’s not at Coqual, she creates BIPOC-focused arts initiatives and travels the world studying history.
