Communications & Marketing Associate

The Role

We are seeking a Communications and Marketing Associate. This role will coordinate publicity and marketing efforts, ensuring that they uphold Coqual’s brand and image, as well as support its goals and objectives. The associate should be able to help drive the social media effort, by creating social media content and calendar, tracking social media analytics, assisting with the development of press materials, compiling and managing media lists, generating media roundups for internal departments, and helping update the website. Candidates should have strong writing and social media skills, interpersonal skills, perform well under pressure, and be a team player. This role will report to the Manager of Communications & Marketing.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Contribute to the creation of communications plans that meets Coqual’s goals/objectives
  • Manage multiple projects from conception to completion, by anticipating challenges and meeting deadlines
  • Create and maintain targeted media lists and editorial calendar
  • Handle press inquiries, draft press materials and talking points as needed
  • Serve as lead for the creation of social media content, draft Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn posts
  • Update website content as needed
  • Design data visualization for social media platforms
  • Serve as the lead on Cision to oversee media monitoring and media coverage reports
  • Support press and logistical efforts surrounding events
  • Provide overall administrative support for Communications function, including preparing for meetings, taking notes and producing recaps
  • Conduct trends research and analyze findings
  • Propose and pitch targeted speaking and thought leadership opportunities
  • Assist with the coordination of Task Force member communications teams
  • Other duties and tasks as directed

Required experience, competencies, education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, PR or journalism
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels
  • Strong writing skills and knowledge of AP Style
  • Experience working with various social media platforms and tools
  • Keen awareness of current events and how the media is covering them
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe and WordPress
  • Familiarity with maintaining contact lists in Cision or other media contact software
  • Strong interest in workplace diversity, equity & inclusion topics
  • Ability to interpret complex data and communicate it to others
